Vikkelda Vest knitting pattern (English)

€6.50

The Vikkelda vest is inspired by the Hammerfest sweater from Norlender. On a group outing to gather inspiration for the Strikkekraft Norwegian knitting book, Aleks was inspired by the striking stripe pattern of the Hammerfest sweater. This stripe pattern has been reimagined with the use of Estonian knitting techniques blending Norwegian and Estonian knitting styles.

The small flecks of contrasting colour breaking up the vertical stripe pattern are knitted using a style of Estonian braid called a Ruhnu vits, a variation on a vikkel lateral braid, that adds texture and dimension to the original timeless pattern and horizontal stripe.
